Kid Ivan, by the civil name Ivan Mahalel, is a rapper and hiphop producer from Silesia, Czech Republic. Besides music, his passion is sports and nutrition and prior to college he was performing high at Track & Field sprint disciplines As a teenager, Ivan’s great idols were Dirty South rappers such as Juvenile, Pastor Troy or MJG, and in 2006, trying to be their match, he produced and released his debut album Who Is Boss. Despite its rather sloppy make, the album got very popular and retrospectively proved to be game changing. Gaining many fans, and even more haters, Ivan’s name became notorious throughout the country and his simple songs, known for swag and sexually abusive lyrics, were soon imitated by all. Short as it was, Ivan’s acting on the Czech hiphop scene had a strong impact on the upcoming generation of the local hiphop artists and set the direction for Czech hiphop to develop over the following decade.
Energetic, confident, smarter and stronger than ever before, 2020 sees Ivan bouncing back to the rap game with thie single goal in mind - have a fun making music one more time in his own way, plus show the whole world he hasn’t been called the Czech rap’s living legend for nothing.
Enlightened with the truth of the Bible later on, however, Ivan made U-turn and quit pursuing the promising career in Dirty South Rap at an early stage. He took a break from music in order to pursue education - academic and spiritual - and by the time of his university graduation, Ivan eventually became one Jehovah’s Witnesses in 2018. Nevertheless, his hunger for music success never ceased. Today, having established himself as a succesful sports trainer and nutritionist in Prague, Ivan adds “Kid” to his stage name and takes up another challenge - making black music in a clean, immorality-free way.
